WEEK 1 - WHO WILL BE THE HOUSE SPEAKER?

4 of our 5 Denton County State Representatives support, Rep. David Cook for speaker.

  • Cook was selected by the Texas Republican Caucus.
  • State Reps. agreed to support the speaker selected by the Republican Caucus.
  • Four of our five Denton County Reps have gone on record supporting Rep. Cook.  They are:  Ben Bumgarner, HD 63, Richard Hayes HD 57, Andy Hopper, HD 64 and Mitch Little, HD 65.
  • These 4 Reps also support "NO DEMOCRAT CHAIRS"
  • Who has refused???  JARED PATTERSON, HD 106 (Frisco area).
  • REP. PATTERSON is on record supporting the appointment of Democrat Chairs.  He openly supports Rep. Burroughs for speaker NOT the Republican Caucus choice.
  • Burroughs is a Dade Phelan lieutenant.  Texans voted for change in Austin.  Burroughs can only win with the votes of the Democrats and votes from a handful of Republicans including Rep. Jared Patterson.
